HeronBridge Preparatory

Grade 1 – Grade 7

It's an honour for me to introduce you to HeronBridge Preparatory School.

Established in 2002, the school has grown exponentially to the point of near capacity within five years. Founded on solid Christian principles, the school has gained recognition as a successful independent school belonging to the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA) and to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

We are passionate about children - your children, our pupils. We believe in a partnership between parents and educators as the formula for a child's success - success being the all round development and achievement of the child academically, emotionally, physically, morally, culturally and spiritually. The welfare and pastoral needs of the children are a high priority; developing them towards integrity as per our motto, Ad Integritatem.

We subscribe to an Outcomes Based approach to delivering a mainstream, academic curriculum, based on the nationally prescribed National Curriculum Statement. The dynamic programme is mindful of the needs of our present community and, as such, is constantly evolving. Our staff, across all grades and subjects, embroider the fabric of the curriculum to prepare children for the Twenty First Century. Gardner's theory of Eight Intelligences with its subsequent employ of different modalities of learning a well as de Bono Thinking Skills, underpin the preparation of lessons and curricula materials.

Across all grades, we actively promote our Christian ethos. Bible Education is timetabled as an academic subject, and along with daily devotions at the start of every morning, we teach the children about the Christian faith and encourage them to develop a personal relationship with God.

Sport and extramural activities add richness to our school day. The objective of the co-curricula programme is to provide pupils with the opportunity of participating in activities that enhance their school experience. It aims to develop each child's physical potential, develop character and instil discipline. Sport should bring the child pleasure and entertainment through organised activity.

The extramural programme is fundamentally made up of five main components: the main sporting codes (Cricket, Netball, Tennis, Swimming, Soccer, Athletics, Cross Country, Hockey); cultural activities (Drama, Choir); outdoor and adventure sports (Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing); clubs and societies (Art, Chess, Pottery); the Integrated Day. We also facilitate Equestrian and riders are selected to represent HeronBridge College at Inter-School events.

Our caring team of educators, councillors and support staff look forward to welcoming you to the HeronBridge College family.
