Preparatory Highlights

Sock and Shoe Charity Drive

The Grade 3’s have been collecting shoes and socks for Riversands Primary in Diepsloot as their Outreach project this year. On Friday 7 May there was much excitement in the Grade 3 classrooms as we sorted through all the wonderful donations. We then had great fun placing them along the pathways from the Junior Prep block towards the Riverview Field. We collected approximately 700 shoes and reached almost to the Pre-Prep gateway. We also collected 3 large bags of socks which have yet to be counted. The Grade 3’s thank you so much for all your generous donations which will help many feet to be warm this winter.

Prep Prestige Gala – 13 March 2009

On Friday, 12 March 2010, the HeronBridge A Swimming Team took part in the A League Prestige Gala. As winners of Prestige Gala last year, the swimmers had a title to defend. This was a big challenge this year as many other teams looked particularly strong.

Dainfern College hosted eight other schools, namely Crawford Sandton, Redhill, Grayston Prep, St Dunstans, Marian College, Beaulieu Prep, Kyalami Prep and HeronBridge College.

The HeronBridge team stepped up to the challenge and swam with spirit and gusto. Many children set personal best swimming times for their respective strokes. By the end of the day, the swimmers were awarded the trophy for both the boys and girls competition.

The HeronBridge swimming team retained their title of Prestige Champions and won the gala with a total of 423 points. Dainfern College was placed second with 397 points and Redhill was in third place with 307 points.

Many thanks must go to Caren Kurzewski, a truly dedicated swimming coach, the teachers for their time and efforts with the swimmers, and the parents who have been so supportive. Lastly, a big thank you must go to the swimmers for their spirit, enthusiasm and commitment. Well done to each and every one of you!
